Perodua Myvi Eco-challenge race 2009


PERODUA MYVI ECO-CHALLENGE RACE 2009




1. Car




The car is a NON-REGISTERED VEHICLE.

Delivery of the car to the institutions will done via our (Perodua) nearest branches.


2. Development Fund

Each institution will be given a RM10,000 development fund by Perodua in order to
modify the car accordingly.


Additional funding can be used but will the funds must be sourced by the
institution themselves.


3. Car Modification

All modifications should not cause the car to weigh less than 700kg (exclusive of driver) with full fluid condition.

Modifications to the below listed items are strictly prohibited:

  • Main body structure – A/B/C pillar, floor, side member, front end and collision related structure.
  • Cutting, hole punching (more than 20mm in diameter)
  • Bending or any type of modification that reduce the structural strength.
  • Instrument panel.
  • ABS (Anti-lock Brake System).
  • Steering system.
  • Brake system.
  • Chassis system – except wheels and tyres.
  • Transmission – including drive shaft.
  • Homologated items such as head lamp, rear combi, side turn mirror., 3rd brake light, etc.

CO intrusion into the cabin will lead to disqualification.


4. Engine


Major modifications allowed EXCEPT to engine block, cylinder head and cylinder head cover.

Modifications to fuel system is ALLOWED. All connections must be inspected and approved by appointed Perodua personnel on 20/06/2009 at Speedway PLUS Circuit.

Usage of alternative fuel (hydrogen, NGV) is NOT ALLOWED. All octane booster or fuel-enriching substance are also NOT ALLOWED.

Adding or removing of parts (attached to engine unit i.e. alternator, pump, air-cond compressor etc) to help increase fuel efficiency or mileage is ALLOWED.


5. Circuit.

Speedway PLUS Circuit
USJ Rest 7 Relax, Elite Highway
Subang Jaya
Selangor Darul Ehsan
 



Lap distance – 995 metres.

Minimum lap time – 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Penalty will be given to teams which fails to meet the minimum lap time.


7. Maps circuit.




8. Driver.

Minimum weight of 50kg.

Healthy.

Valid driving license.

Must be staff or student of participating university.

No professional drivers allowed.

Seat belt and helmet must be worn at all times.

Driver change is allowed as well as pit stops.


9. Petrol.


1 litre of Petronas Primax (Ron 97)



10. Race day communication.

All cars will be allowed to communicate with their respective teams. The respective institutions will have to bring their own communication equipment on race day

All cars will also be connected to the race marshall. Perodua will provide the necessary equipment on race day.


11. Race Penalties.

Cars deemed to be slower than the minimum lap time will be penalised according to a gradual distance penalty (e.g. additional 100 meters penalty for each additional 10 seconds over the minimum lap. For example one lap of 2.39, an additional 100 meters will be deducted. For a lap of 2.45, a 200 meters penalty will be deducted from distance covered.

Collisions during the race will result in distance penalty (minor) to disqualification (major) to the party deemed at fault by the race marshalls.


12. Car delivery to circuit.

The institutions are to deliver the car to the circuit on 18 June 2009 (Thursday) by 10 a.m. latest.

18 June 2009 is the official test drive day. After this date no more test drive on the circuit is allowed

19 June 2009 morning a full check on the cars will be done by authorised Perodua personnel.
Any modifications deemed illegal will have to be rectified during the afternoon session or the cars will be disqualified.

The cars will go on quarantine by 5.30 p.m. on 18 June 2009.


13. Banner.



14. Longest distance.

Cars will be divided into two categories – manual and automatic transmission.

Cars are to run on circuit until they stop.

Cars that go the longest distance with the least amount of penalties will be declared the winner.


15. Engineering Presentation.

Each team will be given a booth with display boards for them to put up their modification information.

Judges will be going around the booth display area. Teams are given 5 minutes each to give a brief explanation.

The booth must be manned at all times during the day to field questions from the media and public.


16. Design / Decoration.

The design aspect (aerodynamics, visual, etc) will be a factor in awarding points to the teams.

All teams are required to decorate their car according to their own theme – Eco, natural, environment,earth, etc.

All teams are required to insert their institutions’ logo on both side of the front doors for easy identification by race marshal during the race.


17. Attendance / Participation.

Points will also be awarded to teams with the best participation not just from their team members but also from the support they bring during the race day.


18. Prizes.

The categories are as below:

1. Top 3 cars in the manual transmission category .
2. Top 3 cars in the automatic transmission category.
3. Top 3 prizes in the engineering presentation / design / attendance / participation category.

Total prizes for the Perodua Eco-Challenge is RM88,000.
